Michelle Mi Che is a Corean American interdisciplinary artist working across ceramic sculpture, performance, and photography. Her work examines suppressed histories within the Corean diaspora, focusing on intergenerational experiences of women and the ways collective memory, inherited trauma, and unresolved violence become inscribed within the body. Through her work, she investigates the enduring psychological and cultural impacts of war, using oral histories as a guide for both personal reflection and broader historical inquiry.
Che (b. 1990, California) holds dual B.A. degrees from the University of California, Berkeley in Dance and Performance Studies and Molecular and Cell Biology. She will begin her M.F.A. in Ceramics at the Rhode Island School of Design as a graduate fellow. Che is the 2025 recipient of the Philip G. Cornelius Award of Excellence in Ceramics.
